Mercedes-Benz - 220 SE Coupé W111 - 1963

Original and rust-free Mercedes-Benz 220 SE Coupé W111 from 1963, from California, USA. This Mercedes drives, brakes and shifts well. Sold as a driving restoration project. It has a sought-after original sliding roof. Beautiful colour combination: green exterior with a caramel-coloured interior. The seats were reupholstered with new original covers. The Mercedes has documents such as the original booklets, brochure, a body service book and the Certificate of Title. The W111 was built by Mercedes-Benz from 1959 (the "W" stands for Wagen). The W111 is a predecessor of the current S-class and was, especially for that time, a luxury car. The sharp protruding parts of the W111’s interior were upholstered to prevent injuries in case of an accident. The door handles didn’t stick out any more. The W111 was also the first car with a safety steering wheel. The W111 also marked the first time a safety cage with integrated crumple zone was used. The development of the W111, the successor to the Ponton, began in 1956. The tail fins were, compared to their American contemporaries, more harmonious and according to Mercedes’ corner markings, they were useful when parallel parking. This Mercedes-Benz is therefore a great and beautiful project for a real enthusiast to turn into a beautiful car which will only increase in value. You are more than welcome to view this car in our showroom prior to placing a bid. The car can be viewed and picked up in Oldemarkt, the Netherlands. DUE TO THE CURRENT CORONAVIRUS SITUATION, WE’RE HAPPY TO KEEP YOUR PURCHASED CAR IN OUR INDOOR STORAGE FACILITY FREE OF CHARGE.
