Lancia - Artena - 1934

This Lancia is a unique piece of history for Lancia enthusiasts and especially followers of Dutch car history. This Lancia Artena is a unique car built at Carrosserie van Rijswijk in The Hague (The Netherlands). The Lancia has been in a dry shed since the beginning of 1978 and after the death of the owner, it came to us via the heirs. They wanted to bring the car back to life and sell it to an enthusiast. The car is therefore sold as a private sale to private individuals, there is no guarantee or right of exchange. The car is in almost the same condition as when it went into storage in the owner’s garage back in the 70s. The car was stored on a stand, waiting for better times. All we have done is replace all the fluids such as coolant and oil, checked the electronics and ensured everything works, drain the brakes and most importantly bring the engine back to life and make the car "driveable". After a thorough cleaning and a good polish, the car now looks presentable. The engine starts and runs, it drives, shifts (with double clutching) and stops but it definitely still needs work. The tyres are almost 50 years old, the car has to be aligned and will need restoring if you’re looking for a car in competition condition. However, the car is excellent for someone who just wants to have fun with a prewar classic or add it to their collection to look at and daydream. The interior is neat, the headliner and top fit well and are in good condition with a few age spots. Opening the top is difficult, it was taken off for the first time in 50 years for taking photos. But a little oil and grease certainly does wonders. Do not expect a beautifully restored car, it is just a nice piece of Italian / Dutch car history that can be enjoyed as is or restored to someone’s personal standards. The first owner of this car was J.J. Du Bois, H. Bosmanstraat 5 in Amsterdam, the car came to the Netherlands after the purchase of the rolling chassis in Italy and the construction of the body by Van Rijswijk in 1938, it was sold in the 50s to Mr Pim Hascher and he sold the car to the current owner in 1974. VIN number: 28-7470 (Artena 228C) Engine No. 84-4308 Look carefully at the photos and try to ask questions first if you're not convinced about bidding. Technical features: Lancia Artena third series model type 228 A, chassis and saloon, long wheelbase Type 228 C, chassis and saloon short wheelbase. Progressive figures for 228 A from 3021 to 3500 and from 4001 to 5072: for 228 C, from 3501 to 3988. Frame numbers for 228 A 28-4501 to 28-4980 and from 28-5001 to 28-6072; for 228 C 28-7001 to 28-7,488. 2,040 units built in total, 1,552 of which were type 228 A and 488 were type 228 C. Engine type 84; front, longitudinal, monobloc; head (pictured) in cast iron (cross-flow type, with suction on one side and drain on the other); crankshaft on 3 supports; special steel rods (cast) with antifriction bearing inserted directly into the connecting rod head; aluminium alloy pistons; cylinders and base poured from special cast iron. The engine is not attached directly to the frame, but using two small auxiliary leaf springs designed to dampen vibrations. Worldwide shipping can be arranged via TheFreighthero in a closed container or by Marlog Car Handling. Costs to be paid by the buyer. We recommend European shipping by the company Wolves in Wierden. A family business transporting vintage cars as if they’re their own. The car can be viewed and picked up in Oldenzaal, the Netherlands.
