Mario Giacomelli came into contact with the environment of Senigallia Episcopal Seminary motivated by his inner research and by David Turoldo poem “Io non ho mani che mi accarezzino il volto” (There are no hands to caress my face). After the first year spent settling in and establishing contacts with the seminarists to elaborate ideas and thoughts and to get them used to the camera, on a snowy day, Giacomelli felt the time had come to take the shot, which would have finally given an image and a shape to his ideas and his inner thought. The black colours of the habits are open to leave the ultimate spaces to the imagination, while the deformation due to the long exposure, combined with the particular angle of the shot, places these little priests in an unreal, limitless space with no references, like fragile suspended balloons.
