Karl Kaufmann (B. Lambert) (1843-1901) - A lake landscape with distant mountains

I am offering for auction a fine late 19th century oil on canvas of a view of the River Seine passing through farmland under moonlight, by well known listed artist Karl Kaufmann, who signed this painting under one of his many his pseudonyms, B Lambert. Signed bottom right with name plaque to frame. Sorry about reflections on glass. Please read this important information. The frame is made of fragile plaster and is highly likely to be damaged in transit. Therefore the frame is not included in the auction and you are bidding on the canvas only. However, I will include the frame as a free gift to the winning bidder and wrap it as best as I can in an attempt to avoid any damage. Condition. In fairly good condition. Please inspect all images. Frame has some wear. Ready to hang. Karl Kaufmann was a student at the Vienna Academy. His studies in the European North (Norway), to Holland, Germany (Franconia, Danzig, Königsberg) and often to Italy (Naples, Rome, Venice) gave him the motives for his numerous landscapes, including a remarkable number of views of Venice. From 1900 Karl Kaufmann constantly lived in Vienna. He often signed his works using pseudonyms. Among various other names, Byon, H. Carnier, W. Carnier, F. Gilbert, O. Halm, C.Charpentier, J. Holmstedt, Charles Marchand, R. Merkner, B. Lambert, E. Leutner, M. Heger, Hobart, L. van Howe / van Hove, R. Jäger, Laarsen, Lundberg, F. Marchant, J. Marchant, C. Poul, F. Rodek, J. Rollin, Taupiac, L. Voigt or R. Benda, have often been used. Today the majority of Karl Kaufmann's paintings is privately owned. Some of his paintings have been sold in art auctions for considerable prices (32,450 GBP) Postage via DPD, UPS or Parcel force depending on country.
