English watchmaking.

Barraud-Paul Philip Barraud founded a watch company in his name "Barraud" in Cornhill, London. His sons, Frederick, James and John, also learnt the craft of watchmaking and followed him into business. The company was renamed in 1809 as "Barraud & Son" when Frederick Joseph joined. When John joined in 1814 it was renamed under the name "Barrauds". In 1838, the company name was changed to Barrauds & Lund.

Unusual solid pocket watch. Silver pocket watch (hallmarked) in very beautiful condition.

Side scoring and very well preserved inner gold-plating on the back lid.

On the back of the enamel dial is a glass lid with gold bezel - beautiful condition.

Dial with black Roman numerals - minute scale round the outside and with very fine gold-coloured hands. Seconds by the 6. Signed Barrauds London 2/1874.

Smooth back. The inner lid is also made of silver.

Fine functioning rare movement completely fire-gilded - as well as the balance - unusual design - bolted diamond endstone. Movement marked Cornhill London Barraunds 2/1874. (low movement number)

Watch diameter without pedant: 56 mm With pedant: 76 mm Weight: 150 g -

Winding on the back - pocket watch key is included.

The timepiece is in beautiful overall condition.
