This beautiful print is characteristic of the work of Grosz. Dating from 1923, well before the war, which was his best period. It is in perfect condition.
George Grosz (1893-1959) was a German painter, an important member of the Dada movement as well as of the New Objectivity.
Grosz and Raoul Hausmann organised the first International Dada Fair in Berlin.
He practised grotesque exaggeration to show the condition of the post-war world. He borrows a feverish representation of cities from futurists and Dadaists.
Grosz was Anti-Nazi and left Germany for New York City in 1932 until 1955. He became a citizen of the United States in 1938. In 1959, he choose to return to Berlin. He is considered one of the most important artists of the first half of the 20th century.
