Jean Thomassen - Allegorie o/d natuur

Beskrivelse
Jean Thomassen - Allegorie o/d natuur
Olje på panel - Signert - 1977

Jean Thomassen painted in the anonymity of his studio in The Hague until the actress Ine Veen visited his studio in 1974. She was immediately charmed by the work of this self-willed painter and gave him his first exhibition in the legendary Artim gallery in The Hague, then home to famous realists, including Carel Willink, Johfra and Henk Helmantel. His work was awarded prizes in Canada, the United States and Bulgaria at the end of the 1980s. He is the main exponent of absurd realism. Summary exhibitions in the Markiezenhof museum in Bergen op Zoom (1995) and in the Westfries Museum (2000 and 2001) attracted a great deal of interest from the press and public.

He wrote the notorious biography Anna Pavlova, triumph and tragedy of a megastar that would degenerate into an international action for the return of the remains of Pavlova from London to Russia.

Since 1998 the Guinness Book of Records mentions Thomassen as the maker of the world's smallest oil painting.
